The A&P Lofts

One of the Southeast’s most notable new construction in-fill developments, The Atlantic & Pacific Development brought life to an abandoned, former A&P Grocery site at the heart of an historic neighborhood.

Designed by renowned McAlpine Tankersley Architecture, The A&P Lofts offer unrivaled architectural features in the 16 lofts, numerous commercial spaces, and central courtyard. Seven buildings featuring solid steel and concrete construction - built to last, the way things used to be. All buildings are mixed-use with retail or office space on the ground floor and residential living above. A true urban environment in the heart of a thriving neighborhood.

The A&P Lofts was selected as the winner of a 2008 Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Charter Award, recognizing the best of urban design and implementation throughout the world. It has been featured in national media including Monocle, Southern Living, and many others.

Matter principals, Anna Lowder & Harvi Sahota, developed the project, seeking to highlight the ability of thoughtful design and mixed-use principles to create vibrant community spaces.

The Work: In addition to the Environment, Matter created the Brand Identity, Print Collateral, website, Marketing, Advertising, and Event Concepts for The A&P.
